STIRR- Restaurant Review

This past week I went to a new restaurant in Addison, TX called STIRR. I’ve been wanting to try out new restaurants with good vibes and great food- and this place had that! I heard about STIRR a few times but I never really knew what kind of food or drinks they had or even what it looked like, so I was excited to try it out. I was not disappointed, and I am so looking forward to the next time I get to go.

Environment

Like I said, STIRR definitely has really good vibes: super chill and laid back which I love. I ate upstairs, so the view of the city was great. It was only one floor up but surprisingly you could see a lot of the surrounding area. They have these big floor to ceiling windows that open, and the weather was so nice with a little breeze, literally perfect.

I went about lunch time on a Monday so it wasn’t very packed. It was super calm and quiet with modern pop music playing in the background. They even played some throwbacks, which personally I really enjoyed.

Food and Drinks

I ordered the Spicy Buffalo Chicken Flatbread and the Femme Fraise, and everything was delicious.

The Femme Fraise is a drink: Grey Goose, strawberry basil syrup, fresh lemon juice, served with half strawberry garnish. This drink was the perfect combination of sweet and strong. It paired with my flatbread really nicely. The only downside was that the drink cost the same as the flatbread so I only got one.

The Spicy Buffalo Chicken Flatbread: grilled chicken, buffalo sauce, mozzarella, smoked cheddar, red onion, micro celery, and blue cheese drizzle. It was amazing. I got it without blue cheese drizzle and added a side of ranch since this was spicy and I love dipping spicy food into ranch, definitely a Midwest thing haha. It was super thin, and the ratio of bread to toppings was perfect. And just the right amount of spice so I wasn’t burning my tongue off.

If you live in the area or are coming to visit Dallas soon you gotta check out STIRR. They have a location downtown Dallas too if you’re closer there than Addison. It’d be a great spot for a date, brunch with the girls, or grabbing a couple drinks on the weekend. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Fall in Texas: Big Orange Pumpkin Farm

I searched a couple places and landed on Preston Trail Farms and their Big Orange Pumpkin Farm. It’s north of Dallas, located in Gunter, Texas and wasn’t a bad drive at all. The drive was filled with lots and lots of trees and countryside. I missed the scenic route that Ohio provides, so I enjoyed this a lot.

One of my absolute favorite things to do during Fall is visit a pumpkin patch. In Ohio pumpkin patches are HUGE, and I mean literally and figuratively. There’s always so many activities, things to see, and great food. I love finding my way through a corn maze, eating kettle corn, seeing the spooky decorations, picking out the perfect pumpkin(s), and of course taking the cutest pictures. So I made it my first priority to find a great pumpkin patch in Texas to try and satisfy my Fall heart. Needless to say, the one I found did not disappoint- it doesn’t compare to the Ohio ones but it sure came close.

It was far away from the big city and noise and was a great mini getaway.

The pumpkin patch is open until November 25th. The farm has a Hardware/Feed store with a cafe, gift shop, pumpkin patch (duh), hayride, haymaze, and a petting farm- woah! Admission is only $10 and you don’t have to reserve a spot, which was nice, because a lot of other places that did that were completely booked.

Monday-Friday admission is $10 and includes:

  • one small pumpkin from patch
  • feed for petting barn
  • hayride
  • roping pen
  • hay maze

Saturday/Sunday admission is $10 and includes:

  • farm train
  • feed for petting barn
  • hayride
  • roping pen
  • hay maze

An Unbe-leaf-ably Great Time!

My family and I loved this place. There were lots of fun activities for everyone, including my nephews, who get bored easily, so this was great! The pumpkin selection was a little smaller than what I’m used to, but they had a good variety to choose from and the prices were reasonable too. I got 5 pumpkins (2 smalls, and 3 babies) for $7! The haymaze wasn’t too big, I’d say it’s geared more towards kids. It was definitely still fun, though, running around it with my nephews playing hide-n-seek. The hayride was pretty good too, it took you around the further part of the farm, where it was more quiet and empty. It was beautiful weather and so peaceful just riding around looking at the animals and scenery. Lastly, I think mine and my family’s favorite part was the petting farm. It was so fun feeding the cows and goats and watching my nephews try to feed them too. The goats were the cutest, they nibbled the feed right out of my hand and were so chill, I loved it.

If you’re from the North Texas area I would highly recommend taking a trip to Preston Trail Farms. It’s the perfect place for families and to celebrate Fall in a fun and inexpensive way. If you get the chance to visit, or have already visited, let me know what you thought!

Are you planning to go to a pumpkin patch this year? If so, which one? What’s your favorite thing to do at a pumpkin patch? Big pumpkins or little pumpkins?

Welcome!

I thought a blog would be the perfect hobby for me! Enter “The Variety Files”, which is exactly that – a variety of “files” of everything I have to say about anything.

Hello! My name is Gina, I’m twenty-two and I just graduated from Malone University! I’m originally from Ohio, born and raised, an ESFJ & 2w3. I consider myself a movie buff, with a strong interest in exploring and trying new things, hold friends and family close to my heart, and love love love coffee!

I just recently moved down to Texas. Perfect timing, right in the middle of a pandemic! My dad’s family lives down here, along with my brother, sister-in-law, and nephews. I figured I’d try out the Lone Star life and see if I like it while being able to spend more time with my family.

So far I love it! It’s a bit difficult because besides family I haven’t made any friends yet. I hope to branch out, though, and meet some awesome people soon! I also think this time will be great for me to learn to become more independent and really focus on me

I’ve been trying to find a new interest to pour myself into. I love making new friends and talking about things I’m doing and am interested in, so I thought a blog would be the perfect hobby for me! Enter “The Variety Files”, which is exactly that – a variety of “files” of everything I have to say about anything.
